On the road to Damascus by the red-lipped rover, Alfred Hitchcock sits down to picnic with the actor James Franco. He wants him in his next film. He wants him to dance. He fills the air with mystery. A raven flies overhead, completes the scene. Bottleneck on the lake. Ribbon of rainbow-colored sky. A dog on the set lunging at the wind machine. When the fire trucks arrive, the neighbors shout: The family is in the house! The family is in the house! Beyond the panes, a bark, flames, smoke. They do their best. James Franco does his dance. Hitchcock smiles, swallows all, then continues on his way.
