Twenty Minutes From Galway To Dublin
by Elizabeth Stelling

Inspiration Piece

Dublin is calling our names
Remember how funny it seemed
To be on the wrong side of the road
How walking on cobblestone
Was like balancing awkwardly
On turtles in a muddy pond

-all the exercise from walking
-places we discovered by accident

We found Bono’s front lawn

You made love to the statues, cooing at smoke rings as I snap your photo
We were surprised no one was home, how cops only carried Billy clubs

Walking the cliffs along Bray
Martello towers stood out
Tiny fishermen going in and out of swells
We drove down the coast to Kerry
Like children we explored
Climbed ancient history

-the fog and curving roads
-all the postcard moments

Abruptly stopping for herds of sheep

I found my heritage, connected with whispers off cliffs and valleys full of ruin
Meet me in Galway, let’s again chase our laughter across Éire

What a great story! It really seems to respond to the color in the image.
