Van Gogh Could See It

Van Gogh Could See It

If you were to really look
at a fading sun
disintegrating into the horizon,
its’ dying reach scratches clouds into
tiers of apricot, coral, salmon and blush.

A scarred dark sky:
pock-marks of silver
smudged onto a navy hue.

Stars are warships amidst night on the water
strategically placed in between
the fleets of indigo waves,
barely visible whitecaps
resembling ghosts adrift searching madly,
diving deep, frantic for a clouded connection
swirling into rings that dissolve among a dilated sky.

If only you were able to notice it, too.
