The Feather

Inspiration piece
the knowing wind lifts feathers
placing some along the lonely roadside
others are placed in summer gardens
between rows of arugula and lacy, fragrant dill
how many feathers have you stumbled upon?
have you imagined the stories they have for you?
we delighted as we discovered our feather
glossy, black, and glistening on our sidewalk
we brought it home
and glued it next to
a bright yellow paper star
as we sang Twinkle, Twinkle
we titled it, Things That Sparkle, Float, and Fly
