Gone fishing

there are no scales
in the blue

there is only perspective,
the soar of a cranked wing,
the spill of therms
and pressure,
wind and lift

mechanics and theories
do not feather my nest,
there is no venturi
that binds my brood

i am the far
looking for the near,
the silver glint
beneath an unclouded sky

and my definition of quota
is limited only
by my gut’s fill of flesh and bone, blood

we are the dorsal of the sky,
the bobbled fin of its spine where
justice is painted by survivors,

there are no scales
in the blue
