In circumambulating ideas, folks tend toward imagining, actually conceiving

Bits and bobs that cleek outliers such that that some sodden, eager snatchers

Ratify otherwise unheard of duties.

While the ethical dimension of human rights has curried attention, more recently,

Little discussion has ensued per means to parsimoniously grapple with unwanted,

Prejudicial legislation.

Most semantic screening challenges no epistemologies, instead, historicity seeps,

Sloughs, otherwise overflows as a result of false freedoms. The majority of folks

Don’t grasp human behavior.

So, constitutional amendments notwithstanding, basic truths capable of impacting

Identities, ideologies & our power of invention remain phantasms, never verities.

Absolutism still stifles pluralism.

There’s no utility in avoiding referential problems inherent in cognitive practices’

Particulars, in skipping support for actions, or in embracing exclusive “universals.”

Objectivity will forever rot.

Bee Cop

Minh Vu adjusted his mesh hat and veil. The material allowed in air, but not bees. Carefully, he positioned the cherry picker high in the boughs of the swarming linden. Three years earlier, the police department had advertised for an apiarist.

At the time, Minh had been a graduate student in Museology. Although his research area in museum multiculturalism had inspired him, his food insecurity had left him literally wanting. Weighing his parents’ Hanoi experiences with drought, urbanization and floods’ impact on their Apis Cerana hives against his being hungry for an unknown additional number of years, he interviewed for and received the part-time job. After receiving: twenty-two weeks of training, a 9mm pistol, and a set of handcuffs, Minh became a policeman.

These days, he has food, but not friends or a completed dissertation. What’s more, he endures the repeated, painful lesson that human stings always hurt more than insect ones; people can build up a tolerance to bee venom, but not to the punctures of coworkers’ words.

I finally woke up, understanding there are people who only love dead people, there are people who’ll only love me if I die (and I know how that sounds, but bear with me)…these people–they say they love living people, specific people, but the people they love serve their metaphors, lick their boots and such. I don’t lick boots (unless I have to and for sure, there are boots I have to lick (I have my reasons)). With regard to serving metaphors, I have so many of my own. It’s a lot to serve them all, to go to war with them, make peace with them, watch them born, live, and die. But regarding humans–I want to love people in spite of their metaphors and while they’re alive even though conversations with the dead are easier. Gravestones are cold. I want to be loved despite my metaphors (because of them is ecstasy, pure joy). I want to be loved while I’m alive. Many of us want that. Don’ t say, “I don’t like you, but I love you,” because that always breaks my heart.”
