Inspiration piece

The slumlords thought the poor people wouldn’t notice
If they postponed trash collection a few weeks
Poor people don’t care
If their asphalt backyard
Smells like the garbage everyone thinks they are.

The popular girls thought the other girls wouldn’t notice
If they pissed in the cupcake batter and handed out the batch
Ugly girls don’t care
If their inviting cupcakes
Taste like the excrement that they think they are.

The rebel girl thought the Universe wouldn’t notice
If she took her own life with a sharpened knife
Rebel girls don’t care
If their lives end bleeding on the floor
Marking the rug with the blood like the stains on society they think they are.

I wanted to be the one to notice
The suffering of the world and offer protection in loving arms.
The world doesn’t care
But I do
Because I know most people are trying to be good like I think they are.

What a tender sentiment given expression in two different media! Each piece adds a dimension to the other.

The inspiration is very, very brave.
The response deserves a special medal.
