Amy Alley and Jane Hulstrunk

Jane Hulstrunk, photographer

Poem created in response to art:

Amy L. Alley

will drift away suddenly

like seedlings lost

to a gust of wind.

We will try

to hold on

We will cling

to the white wisps

of their wings

as they burst forth.

But it never works.

They have been waiting

for this wind.

Waiting to fly.

Wind is a force of nature.

You can dance with it.

You can celebrate it.

You can fear what it might do.

But you can not

the direction it might take.

It is the same with our children.

You can dance with them.

You can celebrate them.

You can fear what they might do.

But you can not

the direction they might take.

You can only look back

At your own wings

and remember the winds

that carried you

to where you are now.

And remember the ones

who let go

so that you, too,

might fly.

Jane! I love this both poem and picture a perfectly aligned. I have always wanted to create some connection to art and poetry too…sometime I will have to share some of my poems with you.
    Great work!
