AFTER THE RAIN

The rain last night rain has washed the garden clean
each dusty blade of grass is once more green.
Drops of rain hang trembling from the tips of leaves
waiting, waiting for a gentle breeze
Scattered bits of spider web lie here and there
like tossed, unwanted diamond strands.
Temporary are these winking, beads and bands.
Too soon the scene is gone, fleeting and sublime
A mesmerizing message of passing time.
