Simmer sunlight over last
Winter’s snow

Add momentum and a frisson of gravity
Churl endlessly
Over rocks worn slipper smooth
Garnish slightly
With contrast pebbles, sprinkles
Of alpine flowers
And the occasional brook trout
Set in a shady forest on the slope
Of a mount
The mellow tones of olde oak
Or the vibrant tang of a cedar
For a seasonal twist
Add a dipping swallow
Or alternately
Over stylised ice
Serve in a tumbler
With a memory
Of a sigh
