he liked to strike, leaving
handprints on my face
harsh outlines of hatred

under that handsome face
uncertainty shook his
unbreakable belief in self
successfully crushing heartfelt
sentiments, leaving me to
sob, staring out into the rain

hush! I see a ghostbird
hanging on the glass
handing us sulphuric hell
