Inspiration
When I see the parakeet
bundled like a bouqet
in the 2 pm parking lot
I put down my business cards
lay them out on the gravel
like a homeless architect
assessing stolen blueprints
and mash them into a city
a cheap paper one like Nutley
NJ where that woman baked
her daughter alive and where
my friend Ben King caught a football
hurled from the house that smelled
like rye bread and coconut oil
