Inspiration piece

Rachel in white satin,
walking serenely on her father’s arm
down the lemon-ribboned aisle,
skipping back hand-in-hand
with Lee, rose
petals tossed, showering
her swishing train.

Photos, hugs, and champagne later,
first dance and sister’s toast and
friends’ chatter later,

I find her on the swings,
legs kicking high, embraced
by the warm evening breeze,
hair flying behind her
long as that train,
smiles tossed like roses across her face
landing everywhere,
enough laughter for both of them
to shower across a lifetime.
