Till Spring Sings
By Dale Leffler
Inspiration piece
Now there is nothing
no words on the wing
no voice in the wind
no color at the berm.
Only black crows and starlings perch at the feeder
cormorants and turtles hide beneath white topped water
blustery bands of bitterness strike at
bite at my exposed neck.
Sol shines without much warmth
chipmunks, fat squirrels, briar rabbit and fox
slumber sunk in their sub-terra burrows
till spring sings its sweet song again.
