Morning After
Inspiration Piece
After the Carriage Returns to a Pumpkin
By Annmarie Lockhart
Response
at the peak of the party
at half-past midnight
it’s easy to forget
that morning comes
moaning in with the
slam of a door
and the dripping
puddle from a side-
spilled bottle
and the still-
sharp sting of
words heard
between echoed
refracted in wine
revelry looks
unromantic
at street level
in sunrise tatters

You two street walkers sure have a good thang going on, and I love every step you take! Heh!
The two of you captured the feeling and the taste of the Day After. I love it!
