Life With My BFFs

We were empty vessels

eager to be filled

with life’s abundant pleasures.

How naive we were

not to realize that sorrow

must accompany joy.

We are older now

weighed down with the byproducts

of our comedies and tragedies.

We cling to each other

and brace for what comes next.

We dare not let go.

    I love this image with this poem! The lamplight shining outside suggests abiding the elements of the poem. Both the language in the poem and the color in the photo are vivid and vibrant. Wonderful work!
