Canopy Of Dreams

Living

(Response Piece)

Beneath layered eons’
mulch: post holes, now filled
with soil; evidence
of humanity
long since buried; structure
destroyed by death watch
larvae from within.

An age forgotten
in our sophisticated
maturity.

Uncovered by my
archaeological trowel wounds
gape beneath heartwoods’
ticking. Coffin-ready.

I like how you looked at the nature aspect of the photo – the trees, earth, death watch beetles and went one stop further looking at life and death, cycles and how the trees make coffins that return to the earth.

A great photo as well. I felt the immenseness of the trees and my own insignificance.

    Good work.
