Response
Tongues I Speak In
God’s plans don’t fret
We’re all just mangled marionettes
I’d split the sky in two
Just so you could see I’m in there too.
And now I lay me down to sleep
Here’s to the brave face I cannot keep
Here’s to the judgments that visit me in my sleep
Here’s to the angels singing and weeping
Here’s to the wheels screeching and screeching,
And I pray the lord your soul to keep
We share a name but not the curse
We share a heart but not the verse
My pockmarked hands couldn’t hold you back,
from the demon parade.
The devil you know has
saturated
your memory
with broken melodies
(If you should live for other days,
I pray the Lord to guide your ways)
and still the spirits sing with flames
