The Cabin
By Kathleen Finn Jordan
Inspiration piece

It’s quiet here
Fall is creeping our way
As trees are tunneling
Leaves are changing their clothes slowly
After shaking their arms in the buckets of windswept rain
That have fueled the creek singing loudly as it bustles
Through the forest that surrounds us
Dave’s Cabin in October
Owls scowl from the deck’s wooden peaks
Birds tweet and chase jumping off the fallen logs
It’s quiet here and the quiet will stay with us awhile
It’s quiet here but nature chants mournfully
The end of summer light.
