A Visit to the Circus

Response
It was easy to lead her home.
She was willing to accept peanuts
from you, which you liked after so much
time in the greedy wild.
That elephant is always
the biggest thing in the room,
sentiment pressed to sediment
sadness sunk into our bones.
We dig her up again and again and again.
