Response

Winter fog on the hill
By Douglas Pugh

Inspiration piece

Spectred
farewells  hang
between the boughs
winter leaking slowly
back to it’s skies

misted
in reluctant parting
trailing slick where
lingering grip clung
onto gnarled old friends
after a season of lying
at their feet

a pea souper
so understatedly English
that it slips innocuous
through the stands
of maple
reaches to the sky
in a wet breath
.
