Mother Eagle
By Kathy Doran
Inspiration piece

Wide wings a silhouette against the sky’s blue dome

Pushing off from your nest as you scout food to bring home

The ether-filled firmament echoes back your wings’ sound

Clouds like lace curtains float high above the ground

Pressed on by your instinct you’re sure to succeed

Bringing food to your eaglets driven by their need

You don’t worry about the future or pine for the past

You gather your forces and fly really fast

The present’s  your home and your focus is true

You have three babies now, not your usual two!

How the hell did you get this shot? It’s fantastic!

Thanks for your feedback. Since a pair of eagles nested in an urban area, I have been observing them and taken multiple shots. I was lucky that time to capture the eagle in flight.

I agree it’s such a dynamic shot, and the prose gives voice to that look of determination. Thank you both!

Phil’s eagle photo served as a muse and inspired me to write. His awesome talent is impressive and his patience, seemingly endless! Thanks, Phil! Can’t wait to see what this year yields!
