One Door Closing

By Lisa Nielsen
Inspiration piece

The sky is damp and
the buildings are glistening tonight, as
smoke rises off the sidewalk.
Footsteps and breath form
a rhythmic chorus of goodbye, which is always
my favorite serenade, but it requires perfect timing
or you will call me heartless.
I know I am safest when I’m alone.
You grope me insisting I  trust you.
So, I play along, without mercy, watching
you catch hesitation between your teeth
and calling it a rose.

Absolutely exquisite, both pieces. I love the moodiness of them. Very well done!

Thank you Lisa. It’s been quite interesting to see how we both connected over our mutual inspiration pieces. it was my first time. I am going to take mine and redo it on a canvas to try and improve the direction I wanted to take with it.

I am quite humbled at the work here. I feel like mine is way overboard- nice work!

The mood of the words brought to life in the image. Right down to the grope and the misidentified rose. Brava!
