Second Honeymoon

.

Alright, hold on. No peeking. I want it to be a surprise.

You’re going to love it baby. Hold on. Not yet. Alright!

Now you can look! There! Isn’t that great? See how

much I love you baby?

.

What? You don’t like it? What do you mean? Alright,

alright, listen, give it a chance, hear me out. Sure, it’s

unorthodox, I’ll give you that. And I’m not saying it’s

forever. Just until we rebuild the real house. Like a

hotel, only better! It’s got space for everything we need,

well, everything I need anyway, cause you know all

I need is you, angel.

.

Oh, sure, I talked to the neighbors. They don’t mind.

Well, yeah, Susie and Steve were high, sure. And no,

Bob and Paul didn’t answer the door, no, something

going on, music, yelling, yeah, you know, the usual.

But still, no one said no.

.

Look how close to the car we’ll be! I can help you with

groceries real easy. You won’t have to yell for me to get

up out of that chair, see? All you have to do is hand them

to me from the window. Well no, there’s no running water.

But I got the hose snaked right up through a seam in the

back. OK, I’m sorry. Maybe snaked wasn’t the right word.

.

Baby, come here, listen, it’ll be so cozy, just you and me,

no ringing phones, no tv, I’ll even give up football, just

us, you and me, the way you like it–what? Sure, I can

do that! Of course, sweetie, I can get you some curtains!

Not sure how I’ll hang ’em …

A great collaboration– both the image and the poem have many layers, humor, sadness, bright and dark, both taking us to a new place and letting us see what’s underneath. Kudos!

Another outstanding collaboration! I love the mirror image and the focal point of the photograph. I love having to decide which house the narrator is speaking of.

I love this, and I am not just yanking your curtains either. Such funny dialogue going on here, and how many of us have lived in that flimsy fixer upper starter home! On a hill none the less!
