Laid out, sprawling and dotted, once choked with trees
The spits left after the logging
…..punctuate the melancholic presence with a scream
Space everywhere and the rumble of the sea against the wall
…..drums and throbs with the haunted themes of this landscape and these people
I long for the solitude it breathes and the silence that is its own treasure
Only the birds talk and the people listen
Silent and always thinking dark
Everything dark and secrets live here
Ancient secrets and those found in modern and postmodern crannies
Haunting landscape that etches rivers in my soul.
