simmer sunlight over last
winter’s snow
or
wring rainbow into
dilute solution of H²O
add momentum and a frisson of gravity
churl endlessly
over rocks worn slipper smooth
garnish slightly
with contrast pebbles, sprinkles
of alpine flowers
and the occasional brook trout
set in a shady forest on the slope
of a mount
the mellow tones of olde oak
or the vibrant tang of a cedar
for a seasonal twist
add a dipping swallow
or alternately
over stylised ice
serve in a tumbler
with a memory
of a sigh
