Inspiration Piece

Christmas in a Petri Dish
By Neil Ellman

Response

Through a Microscope–

Christmas in a microbe world

Living candy canes

Snowflakes falling on an agar sea

Like stars and anaerobes

Reindeer pulling arthropods

Gastrotrichs and worms

Protozoic knots and bows

Celebration in a petri dish

Harbingers of birth

Invisible to naked eyes

As if the world were new.

.

I love the direction Neil took this. The image is suggestive of a microscope’s view and both pieces draw life from each other.
