Falsifying the Inevitable
By Lisa Nielsen
Inspiration piece
Layers of heartache had left me invisible
so I ripped myself open like a superman suit.
And, despite the miles and miles of railroad track,
that turned my heart to pulp,
I found the voice
I found the wings
and dug out the sorrow and sent it on its way
like a migratory interloper
There is no time for subtlety.
I am daring you to look
And contemplate the messy entrails of my history.
(the cookie cutter girl
pretzeled around your well-toned arm
does not exist so stop turning around, you will not find her)
I will not split myself open anymore
Just to endure getting surgically repaired
Week after week
Because someone wanted a peak
That turned into a study,
That led to an investigation,
followed by scrutiny
And the inevitable jaded mockery
that follows misplaced longing.
You couldn’t really know the intricacies
of what it takes to get this universe up and running
only to be toppled again and again
By some random lost soul thinking I
Had the means to save him.

love the tone of both image and poem– refreshing and insightful and ever so slightly in-your-face. 🙂
Real and raw with a lyricism all its own that complements the image beautifully. I love these lines:

Oh so this is the beautiful artwork you spoke about and your passionate words, even more beautiful!
