The Duplicity of Love

Response
So many years of unsafe ventures
Into matters of the heart and the mind
Where judgment was suspended and met with painful reality
Of unforgiving eyes and broken spirits
Are erased here, laying in your tattooed arms.
The intertwine of salted skin
Where night draws close on glittering skies
Our feet press together in a show of solidarity
Completing the circle, the place where we become one
I am safe here, laying in your tattooed arms.
Disengage and return to the altered real of life
Bending my head against the wind and snow
The cold air gnashes its teeth at my soft skin
The trees now albino branches reach skyward
And I dream only of laying in your tattooed arms.
No matter what our pasts collect as memories
The pain of hearts that break and are then forced to heal
The laughter and the carefully chosen words
Of the first night I began my new life
Where I am only myself, laying in your tattooed arms.

Love the imagery in this one. A fine coupling of art and words. Enjoyed both the Inspiration and Response.
