Stoic Eagle
Jail-like suburbs crowd out your habitat
You don’t care; again you come back
Instead of moving on, you pair up and thrive
Your usual two chicks are three, so more will survive
A trio of eaglets arise from your nest
You keep your back to the onslaught, let your babies rest
Nature as always means to have her way
This time’s no different, stoic birds of prey
Possessive guardians try and block the view
Human egos on parade, think they own those two
But the eagles fly higher into the cradling limbs
The only sound is the wind through the trees like hymns
